Gum Hygiene Treatment
When you come in for a check-up, inform our team of any issues you are experiencing with your gums and teeth. Gum problems like bleeding, swelling or discolouration are common. However, you should have a professional examine your teeth if this occurs, as it could be a sign of a more significant problem with your gum health.
Plaque and tartar build-up are the most common causes of gum issues. We recommend brushing and flossing at least twice a day. Your gums may also benefit from a deep clean that gets rid of plaque and may reduce the risk of gum disease.
Even if you aren’t experiencing any problems with your gums, your hygienist can still perform a full gum hygiene treatment to help prevent future issues from occurring. Plaque around the edges of the teeth is the hardest to reach while brushing, but it is also most likely to affect your gums. That is why this treatment can still be helpful, even if you brush and floss regularly.
